Librarian’s Day Celebration at PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Ponda- Goa
12Th August is celebrated as Librarian’s day in India in honour of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan who is known as “ Father of Library Science in India”. We, at PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy had kept small programme to celebrate this important day.
The programme started with formal introduction by Principal, Dr. S. N. MamleDesai who paid homage to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and spoke about his contribution to libraries and library science education. This was followed by offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan by the Secretary of Ponda education society Mr. Ritesh Naik and Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Desai.
The gathering was then addressed by Librarian, Mrs. Prayangi V. Matonkar who paid homage to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and highlighted some of his major contributions to the field of Library and Information Science.
At the end librarian thanked everyone for gathering and celebrating this programme. Principal and treasurer appreciated librarian and staff for organizing such programme which reminds the Library and Information Science professionals to work in library with more dedication.
